I was wondering the same thing as Claudia apparently was. Amniocentesis is typically something that an OB will discuss in detail with his patient if there is an indication for one - there is a decision factor involved on your part as well. I think your post may have given the impression that your OB simply announced that you'll be having an amnio without going into any detail with you as to how or why.
