BV questionFrom: Dana (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 28 Jun 2000 21:40:32 -0500 (CDT)
I am 20.5 weeks pregnant. I had had vaginal discomfort for a few months and twice they did a pelvic and the cultures came back neg. But the Dr's had said both times there was a lot of discharge inside. A few days ago, the vaginal irritability increased dramatically and BV was diagnosed. They said my vagina was very red and inflamed, no wonder I was in pain. I have been using Flagystatin Vaginal Cream (Metrogel in the US?) for 3 days now and the vaginal pain is gone. But I still have an intermittent abdominal ache/twinges, esp when lying or sitting down (in the center area above my pubic hair). Could this be related to the BV (ie infection ascended into my uterus)? Should I call and ask that the oral version of the drug be prescribed? Or is this a normal symptom in pregnancy? And are my chances of preterm labour now greatly increased because of the BV? Thanks in advance.
