It's only use is to identify those women who MIGHT have a problem, so that they can have a good test, namely, the ultrasound. If the ultrasound measurements were OK, then you are in the clear. The repeat U/S is a common recheck for added assurance. I am glad that you gave up smoking, and I would encourage you to avoid alcohol entirely as well, as there is no known safe level of consumption.
