Not sure there is much you can do to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately placenta does not always come out on its own. Also, remember you were on mag drip, which can work to relax muscles, even uterus, could have played factor in difficult placental removal. I had difficult removal of placenta with Miss Priss #1, but no problems with #2.
