Are you using genetic dating, which is 2 weeks shorter than standard dating (i.e., pregnancy is 38 weeks long, counting from conception, rather than 40 weeks long, counting from the LMP)? If you are 9 weeks from your LMP, then your doctor is unlikely to hear the fetal heart tones, though the heart did begin to beat at around 6 weeks from the LMP (referred to as estimated gestational age, EGA). We don't count on hearing it until 10 weeks EGA, and even then, we frequently miss it, and have to use the ultrasound. I suspect that OB/GYN Net has something on exercise, though I don't for sure. Walking and the stairmaster are both good, as is swimming, stationary bikeing, low impact aerobics and even jogging since you were doing that before your pregnancy.
