27 weeks, pain, swelling

I'm about 27 wks preg. For last 8-10 days I have had swelling in the vaginal area, also severe lower back pain shooting down both legs and causing lameness, and extreme bladder pain, frequent urination and pain with no urination. Yesterday I had two episodes of 'pink' when I wiped after urinating. I went to the hospital last night and there was protein in the urine, so they are doing a culture and suspect it may be a bladder infection, but can't explain the swelling and back pain, other than as normal pregnancy problems. I don't feel they are, this is my 3rd and I've never had anything like this. I delivered one at 32 wks, other at 38. I was told I have a low lying placenta but don't know where it is. Until now this pregnancy has been uneventful except for tons of long braxton hicks, and lots of mucous coming out, which was the same as my two prior pregs.I do have a "irritable uterus" which showed as BHicks every 2-3 mins on the monitor last night.

1. My cervix was long and closed at exam, and "the os was in an anterior position" What does this mean?

2. Can any of these symptoms be related to each other or to prem labour?
