Will My 2nd Pregnancy Be Considered High-Risk?From: Sheila (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 May 2000 22:18:33 -0500 (CDT)
Hello! I gave birth to my 1st child 12.5 months ago. I had strong, regular, contractions from 32 weeks on. I had severe swelling in my feet, legs, and face. My BP had been 100-110/65-70 my whole pregnancy until 36 weeks. From 36 weeks on, it was 160-175/100-115. I was put on strict bedrest for 2 weeks. My OB said it was probably pre-eclampsia, but it wasn't said for sure. I was induced (amniotomy & Pitocin) at 38 weeks. My son was 4 lb., 14.5 oz. & 17" at 38 weeks. My husband and I plan on trying for #2 in 2 months. Will I be a high-risk pregnancy because of the pre-eclampsia & low birthweight? Is there anything I can do to prevent these complications with this pregnancy? Thanks so much!
