Re: Desperately need some advice about insurance coverage.....From: Lesley (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 26 May 2000 16:08:37 -0500 (CDT)
I have been in the process of obtaining health insurance for a small business. I am currently covered under my present job, but will be quitting in a month. I am 9.5 weeks pregant. The Hippa laws were passed last year sometime which prohibits pregnancy from being a pre-existing condition. It is treated as any other illness, and you cannot be denied if you are pregnant. I believe you will be covered, no matter when you conceived. I'll be covered at 4 months when I switch. They will have a hard time proving the conception date anyway. Back when I was younger many babies were born 7 months after the wedding when the bride "conceived" on the honeymoon, if you know what I mean. Good luck!
