It would be possible to do such a thing, but I have extreme difficulty believing that anyone would risk their license in such a foolish manner. A more likely explanation is that your own natural fertility has declined now that you are in your middle 40s. I realize that your fertility has been a given for many, many years but you are dramatically less fertile now than you were even 2-3 years ago, an assumption reliably based on age alone. Another possibility is that the C/S inadvertently damaged your fertility, a possibility at any age.

I would spend a lot of time talking contraception with a patient in the circumstance that you were in too. Another pregnancy would be dangerous to say the least. But I would never, never, never sterilize a patient without their full informed consent, and I doubt anyone else would either. That is a criminal act, and frankly, I am not going to go to prison just because I don't agree with a patient as to how she should live her life. It is simply not a reasonable choice.
