Re: Postpartum Uterine InfectionFrom: Amit (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 19 May 2000 21:22:32 +0530
Dear Jennine, Temparature and WBC count may not rise and in fact there may be leucopenia and hypothermia. Blood culture frequently shows bacterial growth. It's common when there is some kind of immunosupression or severe gram negative bacterial infection or septicemia. One should look for any other evidence of pus collection/suppuration etc. in the pelvic cavity or POD or subdiaphragmatic space also. It should be treated energetically otherwise it can be life threatening. You need complete work up.Best of luck, Dr.Amit Sengupta, MD; Ph.D. This is for educational purpose only
