preterm laborFrom: Kim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 5 May 2000 18:50:46 -0500 (CDT)
Hi! (I am 30 weeks) I have written before as I had a total previa but in the last four weeks it is COMPLETELY resolved!! It went from completely covering the internal OS to being 1.3 cm's away and now it is over 3 cm's away YIPPEE!!! SO just as I was FREED from bedrest, well actually all along I have had contractions. Contractions that HURT wrap around my back into the tummy (this is my third baby, my other 2 were full term), I have had over 6 an hour for a few hours now. The contractions do not hurt worse but they just will NOT leave me alone. I have complained to the DR;s the other day, and the peri did a level 2 + he check my cervix via vaginal probe, MY CERVIX IS THE SAME no changes at all. No thinning out, not funneling no dialation. He pushed the baby down into the cervix to see what my cervix would do and the cervix stayed fine. SO, it looks like things stay the same no matter how many contractions I have, my question is. WHY AM I HAVING THEM, and the drinking of water and resting makes no difference. The PERI told me I am at higher risk for an earlier labor/birth, but how early? WHat should I do? I hate to waste the Dr's time, or be stuck in the hospital when everything seems to be fine each time I see the DR... What would you tell your patients if the presented a case like mine? My other two babies WERE over due, and I NEVER had these contractions, I had BH they never hurt me. My baby is in the head down position. Thanks in advance for your time,
-- Kim
