I've delivered many a woman with a navel ring in hte entire pregnancy -- a lot depends on your build and how you carry the pregnancy. As you get bigger, if it starts to pull and get uncomfortable, have the ring removed then. One trick to keep it open is to have your ob put a nylon suture, tied loosely, through the hole (I've done this on surgery patients where I've had to remove the ring in order to do the procedure). A pierced navel is in no way harmful to the baby.

I have my first pregnant patient with her clitoris pierced -- I really can't see any way around removing THAT prior to delivery!
