Kim I agree with both of your OB's. This is probably a combo of both things. There is no doubt that a previa does lead to more contractions as it is irritating the lower uterine segment and will lead to more activity. I also know that moms that are on their third child will contract more as they have been stretched before. Now, you MUST be very careful due to the previa. I usually tell my patients that if they are experiencing an increase in their uterine activity that they need to get off their feet, drink 2 large glasses of water and alert me if things have not slacked off in the next hour.
