Re: (Dr.) Immune Problem With Preg. Losses? Your thoughts...From: Midge (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Apr 2000 14:40:01 -0500 (CDT)
I too have a +ANA which was discovered after 2 miscarriages last year. I was told that the +ANA was only a marker for lupus and had more extensive blood work done to rule out the lupus anticoagulant and the other one that Dr. Shanahan mentioned. Those tests came back negative. I am now 28 weeks pregnant and am just on 81 mg. of aspirin daily (I started on the aspirin before I conceived again). I also see a Maternal/Fetal Specialist along with my OB. Even though I don't have lupus, they are watching me and the baby and keeping me on the aspirin just in case. If you have not had further testing done beyond the ANA, I would definitely recommend it. If there is a clotting issue, it can be dealt with before you get pregnant again. Good Luck. Hope this helps! P.S. If you got information from Dr. Beers website concerning immune problems - take it with a grain of salt. I found that website before getting pregnant again this time and was convinced I didn't have a prayer of carrying another child again. Both my specialist and OB have told me that Dr. Beer is not in the "norm" as far as medical advice goes.
