Yes. Women with Lupus also have high ANAs and increased risk of miscarriage, predominantly due to micro clots in hte endometrium and placenta -- the tiny clots prevent normal implantation and supply of oxygen and nutrients.

If so, what do I need to know? What are the >chances that ANA caused termination? Does this require another

Your RE should be able to direct a work up for antiphospholipid syndrome. Treatment in pregnancy usually consists of aspirin and heparin injections to prevent these micro clots. I had 2 miscarriages before being diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome and -- with the help of Pergonal, progesterone, aspirin and heparin shots twice a day from ovulation until 37 weeks -- I now have a wonderful, beautiful 17 month old daughter. It is not always the answer, but it is sure worth looking into >

Replies are for educational purposes only and do not construe a doctor-patient relationship; they do not take the place of a face-to-face consultation with your own doctor.
