Jennifer, >From what my dr and others say, progesterone levels do fluctuate over
the course of the day. If you get tested several times, you should try to get tested at the same time of day each time.

Clomid can cause cervical mucous to become drier; if you were able to achieve pregnancy, perhaps just progesterone (starting at ovulation) would be a better thing to try. I don't think I would try Clomid until I was desperate.

Ultrasound is the best measure of what's going on w/ a preg, but even if you see a heartbeat, there's no guarantee that the pregnancy will continue. By 9 weeks, I had seen the heartbeat 3 times, and it was always strong. My hcg, however, did not double for most of my pregnancy, and my progesterone was over 15 thanks to supplementation. The hcg was a "red flag" that perhaps things weren't right.

Obviously, there are so many factors at play in early pg that even the dr cannot identify a definitive cause of m/c. Early monitoring could help you to know if you might need progesterone supplements, but it can't do anything to save your pregnancy.

I know many women have had 2-3 miscarriages and STILL ended up having 3-4 healthy kids, so I'm not despairing yet. Hope you won't despair either! Hang in there--
