I can understand your hesitation. Two years ago I made an amnio and 3 weeks later, I lost the baby by loosing the amniotic liquid. Both, my husband and I, we were not sure that we made the right decision and while waiting for the result, we knew that we wouldn't go for an abortion if we were told that the baby suffers of mongoloism. It was a healthy boy (who could not survive because his lungs were not ready, he was so smart, just a bit smaler than a baby born at term ), but we lost him, probably because of the amnio. The dr. told us this might not be the reason, that there also exist spontaneous ruptures of the amniotic membrane. we'll never know. Please be sure that you will do an abortion if you get a positiv result of amnio. else, it does not make any sense. And you will suffer so much loosing your child, which happens in 2 % of the amnios. I'm pregnant again in the 19 week, we didn't do the amnio even if i'm 39. good luck to you. At Sat, 22 Apr 2000, trc wrote: >
