I'm on 50mg of Clomid and ovulate on day 17. I know (think) that because I had a color change on an ovulation predictor test (OPT) on day 16, and my blood progesterone levels ten days later confirmed that. You too should have ovulated a day or so after a color change on an OPT.

Like you, I've been starting my period (spotting) on Day 26. My nurse suggests that this would make my luteal phase too short, that is, less than 14 days. Therefore, I need to take progesterone suppositories or injections during my luteal phase until around day 30. (Then I take a home pregnancy test to see if I should quit or continue the progesterone.) Of course, I did not have a problem with my luteal phase until I started Clomid. (Before, my cycles were very long.)

All this too say you may be in the same situation as me--a shortened luteal phase. It all depends on when you ovulated as indicated by temperature charting, OPT, etc. My nurse says a few days of scant spotting before actual flow also indicates a luteal phase defect. You might want to ask your doctor about this.

By the way, I've read that some doctors think you really only need eleven days in your luteal phase. So I guess there're two schools of thought.

'Hope this didn't confuse the issue. Good luck.
