I am a grand multip, 36 weeks gestation, dilated to 4. Baby's head was not engaged during my last cervical check. Recently I was walking and felt very sharp cervical pain and thought my water was going to break. This was a brief sensation, lasting less than two minutes. (I'm guessing that my dilation is greater when the baby's head IS engaged.)

I am afraid that if my water breaks, I will not make it to the hospital for delivery.

My question to you is: Would you do an AROM to prevent me from delivering on my bathroom floor? At what gestational age would you do so?

My last delivery was less than two hours.
