Re: Risks vs. Benefits of AmniocentesisFrom: Kim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 5 Apr 2000 17:31:11 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, Doing an amnio is a difficult decision, one my husband and I had to make about 3 weeks ago. We did decide to go ahead with it and so far everything is fine with my pregnancy. I am 37 so my risk of chromosome problems is greater than yours at 35. You could try the triple screen test. It could help to determine your risk level, and help you decide whether or not to do an amnio. I think myself personally...I would forego the amnio if I were just turning 35 in last trimester, especially if there are no chromosome problems in your family, but it's a very personal decision and I wish you the best.
