Amnio and loss of babyFrom: Heather (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Apr 2000 20:18:16 -0500 (CDT)
At 16 weeks I had an amnio, during amnio my uterus contracted and no fluid came out Dr put needle in different spot after several minutes fluid came had slight cramping next day stayed in bed.A week later at 17 weeks had lower abdominal pains The Dr.ran blood and urine tests and did two ultra sound .the ultrasounds showed no signs of any problems and urine test showed urinary track infection he said this would account for lower abdominal pains. Two weeks later at 19 weeks I went in and they found no heartbeat He than did ultrasound there was no fluid or very little fluid in sac and confirmed no heartbeat said baby had died only a day or two earlier. after delivery the tests on placenta and cord showed a acute hematoma. My Dr feels that there is too much of a time lapse between amnio and loss of baby but gave me no other explanation for the cause of a acute hematoma.Do you think it could have been amnio?what other reosons would there be for acute hematoma? Can this happen if I get pregnant again? Is it standard of care to but needle in twice during amnio if they have problem getting fluid?I know this is a lot but I am really needing answers please help me.
