Dr.Shanahan and Dr.Marchbein???ovarian cyst-corpus luteum?

Dr. Shanahan also replied to my questions and now I'm a bit worried. You say, Dr. Marchbein, that a corpus luteum cyst of 4 cm is not unusual. Dr. Shanahan says that's it's not normal.... I will see my family doctor tomorrow, however...is it normal or not? Just another quick question... When would you usually start your period after a D&C and laparoscopy? I was surprised to get my period on Saturday, exactly 4 weeks after my surgery. As of the start of last week my BhCG levels were down to 100. I thought I would ovulate only when my levels would be back to 0, therefore start my period only in a few weeks.

To answer both your questions I was 7.5 weeks LMP pregnant at the time of my laparoscopy and D&C. I had normal BhCG levels up until 6 weeks LMP when I was given methotrexate to treat what was thought to be a tubal ectopic pregnancy. (the MTX didn't work) At the laparoscopy it turned out to be a possible pregnancy on a 2.5 cm cyst on my right ovary. I say "possible" because the surgeons never found any evidence of fetal or placental tissues on my ovary or in my uterus. However, 1 week after the surgery I "passed" some tissue (not a clot) and was told that it may have been "decidual cast". As you can imagine, this situation has been unbelievably difficult and getting answers almost impossible. That's why I really appreciate this site and have gotten some helpful answers to my numerous questions.
