As far as uterine rupture, could >someone please post the statistics for rupture in non-pitocin induced >moms with and without a previous section? > >Thanks. :) hello jessica, i am trying to become pregnant agin after a c-sec 8 years ago. and i plan a hoem birth. the major concerns are uterine rupture. i know the midwife i intend to use very well and am very very familiar with her qualifications. the most important thing if you choose to home birth is a qualified attendant. i, personally would not reccommend an unattended home birth. i believe everyone needs a person who is well trained and not as emotionally attached to the birth as the parents. the second most important thig is the distance to hospital. ACOG reccommends the ob's not attempt VBAC unless the hospital has capability of performing a c-sec in under 15 minutes. the reason for this is because if you ahve a catastrophic uterine rupture, the baby has approx 15 minutes to survive. at least that is what i have read. unfortunately it is very difficult to find a study that concentrates on catastrophic uterine rupture as opposed to other types of ruptures. if any doctors out there have ANY studies i would love to be able to see thme! there are many websites available for statistics and other information. my advice for you is to be very well versed in what the risks are before making this decision. here a few websites for you: http://www.worldserver.com/turk/birthing/rrvbac.html http://www.socalbirth.org/resource/index.htm http://members.aol.com/mimidwife/midwifery.htm http://www.yoni.com/motherf/handsthatheal.shtml good luck, vicki
