Hi Stephanie. I know spotting can be scary, but it isn't always the start of am impending miscarriage. I can't say that it isn't, either, but I had brown spotting at 7 weeks. It lasted 3 days. I was terrified since I'd had 2 miscarriages previously. However, my doctor said everything was fine (after a sono), and thought it might just be implantation spotting. I am currently 13 weeks, so I can only hope things are moving along smoothly. I have had no other spotting since then.

If you are really concerned, I'd ask your doctor to give you a sonogram. A heartbeat can be detected at 5 weeks (thought barely). This could help you ease your mind.

Good luck to you!
