X-rays during early pregnancy...

I am wondering about the effects of X-rays to first trimester babys... I hurt my back on the first day of the new year.. ended up in the hospital for it.. i told them it was possible that i was pregnant... but not likley... so they said they would do a preg test before x-raying my back. for some reason they bypassed the preg test and went ahead with the x-ray. and then that night i found out i was pregnant.. i asked the doc about it she said i was gonna be fine and so would the baby because it was too early in my pregnancy to cause damage. she said that you have to be 6-8 weeks for any damage to be done... we thought i was only a few weeks at the time... well my ultra sound last week changed my due date so much that it seems the period i thought i had the first week of december was actually bleeding from the baby embedding into my uterus. Im concerned since i was in the 6-8 week window when they did direct x-rays over my lower abdomen... what Kind of problems could arise from this? should i be concerned? is or will the hospital be liable for any problems to my child? dont they have to run pregnancy tests before x-rays? there is not much literature on this subject that i have found.. and am greatly concerned with this issue....
