My doc couldn't pick up my baby's HB by doppler at 12 weeks, either. Ultrasound revealed a healthy baby, he did it right there during my appointment. Turns out I was only 11 weeks... He said position of baby, tilting of uterus, could affect not hearing it. For me, my heart was racing so wildly as he kept looking for it, it was hard to pick up anything besides my own HB in my uterus.
