Wow, how times have changed. When I was pg with my son (14yrs ago), the day I went into labor, my water broke at 8:00am. Doc said not to come to hospital unless nothing was happening 12 hrs later (when risk of infection sets in). I ended up going in at 5 that evening, son was born at 12:30am. I'm not sure I understand why doctors now require you go in as soon as water breaks when it could still be several hours before any contractions start.
