The technology in this field is always changing but when I went through this process they told me that if the outer shell of a fertilized embryo is too thick, it can have a difficult time attaching to the uterus wall. At that time, they could offer embryo 'hatching', a process whereby they help thin the wall of the embryo thereby giving it a better chance of attaching to the uterus wall. Who knows what else they can do!!! Word of caution though, IVF is a very stressful process. If both of you are not in it together it could make a rough situation worse. Good luck.
