Baby died from Group B StrepFrom: Cristi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 22 Mar 2000 13:24:16 -0600 (CST)
Early in Feb I had an emergency c section and my baby died from Group B strep. The pathology report indicates that the placenta was infected and that it passed to the baby via the cord. No one was able to tell at the time when I went to the hospital in labor if my water had broke. I was also throwing up and had a temp. I did not rcv antibiotics until 4 hours later. After the antibiotics my baby went into septic shock and died 7 hours later. my question is what it the potential that this will happen again in any subsequent pregnancies my husband and i have.
