Too much fluid?

I just had my dr's appt yesterday, I am 38 weeks pregnant. They did an ultrasound to check my amniotic fluid levels. I have 20 cms. The dr said that at this point, most women only have about 10 cms, so I have twice that amount. I have heard that its not good to have too much fluid. How much is too much at this point, and what affect can this have on my baby? Any input would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Alisa
