Is there a polite way to request to be seen by the doctor only? From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 14 Mar 2000 12:11:01 -0600 (CST)
I went for my second prenatal visit yesterday and was surprised when the FNP walked in instead of the doctor, whom I had expected to see. I was not told that the FNP would participate in my care. I had made my appointment with the doctor, not with the FNP (who also takes appointments). I do not care for the FNP. I didn't feel that she provided the same level of care as the doctor, she was not very friendly and she had her foot out the door and on to the next appointment practically from the time she entered the room. The doctor, on the other hand, is very caring, very friendly and never gives me the impression that he is rushing out the door and on to the next appointment. I would rather not see the FNP again, but I don't know how to politely go about requesting that. I realize that the doctor is very busy and that he needs someone to relieve his workload, but I would feel more comfortable seeing only him. Any advice? Thanks.
