Retained suture materialFrom: anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 14 Mar 2000 11:47:39 -0600 (CST)
To make a long story short, I delivered my baby 8 months ago and suffered internal tears from the ichial (sp?)spines to the perineum. Despite reassurances that these sorts of tears hear wonderfully, I've been in a great deal of pain. This past week I lost what appears to be suture material and have started to bleed a small amounts of red blood from one of the areas where I have scar tissue. (Nope, the blood is not from the cervix--positive on that one.) Is it really possible that dissolving sutures could last almost 8 months?? Any chance that the suturing material is/was what has been making me so miserable? I'm happy for feedback from medical and non-medical types--basically anyone who has any experience with "dissolving" sutures. Thanks. A
