laparoscopy and D&CFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 14 Mar 2000 11:39:49 -0600 (CST)
I had a laparoscopy last week to remove a diagnosed ectopic pregnancy in my right fallopian tube (1 dose of MTX was unsuccessful). However, during the procedure the surgeons determined that there was no ectopic pregnancy. Instead, there was a cyst on my right ovary which explained the pain I was experiencing. They then did a D&C and found nothing <out of the ordinary> in my uterus. Therefore, they explained that they could not find the pregnancy and it might have desolved with the MTX. The same day as the surgery, my B-hCG levels were 17000. 5 days later, I started experiencing severe menstrual cramps and moderate to heavy vaginal bleeding. 2 days later a fleshy <mass> (about 2.5 cm by 7.5 cm, came out of my vagina. This was all very similar to a previous miscarriage that I had. How is it possible that I <miscarried> after a D&C? The only way I can explain this is that I had a perfectly healthy intrauterine pregnancy and a cyst on my right ovary, that was misdiagnosed as a tubal ectopic. Any opinions or suggestions on what my next course of action should be would be greatly appreciated.
