Benefits of beta blocker outweigh risks????From: Kate (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 13 Mar 2000 17:25:58 -0600 (CST)
Not sure if preg. yet but 12dpo and have been off tenormin(atenolol) on a regular basis since Jan. My cardiologist took me off after I got out of dental school and stress eased up(I am sure you know about thatHA!)and because he knew we were trying to conceive. I have only had to take a small dose a few times since then (10mg) and have done well-however today it was 132bpm and stayed that way for over an hour, so I took 10 mg, and now feel terrible about it-what is your opinion about if it can hurt the fetus this soon? My OB at home and cardiologist both said best beta blocker to take while pg,but still making me nervous-what are risks to fetus at such early stage and what would fast pulse do to fetus? I have had pharmocology, but don't know much about this type drug as pertaining to preg.-I have lots of pg signs-goose pimples on nipples and they are very sore with nausea and tired . What if I had to take this the entire pg-I know cardiac input inc. with pg anyway. THANKS AND SORRY SO LONG , i am new at this conception/pg thing!!!
