Your input is appreciated on this topic!

I agree with your belief as stated above. However, in this day and age it won't happen. ACOG has changed it's guidelines making it harder, if not impossible, for women to have VBACs in *some* hospitals. I know I would NOT want to hear my doc say "Sorry Mary, you cannot attempt a VBAC at this hopital (it's the only hospital in the area.). You will have to go thru major surgery to have your baby."

Also, with the lawsuit-happy country we live in, it is hard to determine what is "necessary" in the way of interventions. Necessary for whom? The mother....the baby....the doctor? Something that is necessary for the doctors/midwives may not be needed for the mother and baby but is done to protect the medical professionals should a lawsuit arise. This is BY NO MEANS a slam against medical professionals because I highly respect the ones here at OBGYN.net as well as my own and family physicians. But this is purely the fault of the American citizens who sue for any reason under the sun.
