My hubby and I have contemplated >this option for a long time and still have not come to a final decision. >The hospitals in my area are pretty strict on what they "allow" VBAC women >to do during labor. > >All the best, >Mary i am in kansas and as far as midwifery goes it is alegal. meaning it is neither legal nor illegal. for the most part HB/midwives are left alone unless there is a bad outcome. there have been two cases brought against midwives in the last five to ten years. one was criminal and one was civil (practicing medicine without a license). in both cases the midwives were found not guilty. i have studied with the few midwives in my state and been to a local conference with them. the midwife who attended my son's labor has left the state so i will be looking for a new one. there are about five midwives in the whole state who attend home births. but then there aren't many home births around here. of course, anyone who would even consider a home birth is considered a nut in my area.
