I 100% echo Mary's opinion! An amnio an provide a vast array of things bout the baby. It IS not required. The choice is up to YOU and YOU alone. I agree that the deciding factors include, wuld you want to know if there was a problem?, would you terminate if there was a problem?, I have had 3 pregnancies, 2 births, With Miss Priss #1 I absolutely said NO to AFP, it did not matter what if anything was wrong with baby (normal healthy term baby) with Miss Priss #2 I struggled a bit more with the choice, if there was something wrong with baby #2, would I be able to take care of Miss Priss #2 as well? Again i declined testing, because I would not have terminated in any scenario. GOOD LUCK
