Re: Symphysis separation . . .From: Candace (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 29 Feb 2000 16:45:53 -0600 (CST)
I gave birth to a large little girl on October 27, 1999 (9 lbs. 7 oz. 21 1/4"), she was large enough to break her collarbone during the delivery. Since then, I've had pain in my pelvic area which intensifies when I raise my legs or walk for a lengthy period. My doctor told me I had separated the pubic symphysis and that it would take about 4-5 months to heal. The only suggestion was to take it easy. It's been four months and I'm not noticing any appreciable change in the condition. My question is, will this actually improve, is there anything I can do to aid in the healing and/or should I just learn to live with the condition? Also, if it's permanent, would this condition hamper any future pregnancies? Thank you.
