karen RE: prom updateFrom: Sandy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 26 Feb 2000 19:56:29 -0600 (CST)
Hello Karen. I just was reading some of the previous posts and when I read yours I was amazed to find someone else who is in a situation very close to the one I had a few years ago. When I discovered I was pg with my first and only child (who is 4 now), the first people we told besides my mother were my brother in law and sister in law, who are also our neighbors. when we told them we were expecting we were shocked to hear that they had just found out that they were expecting too. I was due on June 23 and she was due on June 20. We were so thrilled. However, my sister in law had a complicated pregnancy due to a septated uterus and delivered at 37 wks. Her son seemed perfectly healthy at 6 and 1/2 pounds, but he became very ill and passed away at only 23 hours old. An autopsy revealed that he had hydroplastic left heart. My son was born 3 wks later, on June 20. The first thing I thought when my water broke at 5 a.m. that morning was "Oh Lord, not on her due date." I knew this would make the situation even harder on my sister in law. This was such a hard time for the entire family. It was emotionally draining. The loss of my nephew was devastating to us all. I know this is not exactly the same situation, but I just wanted to say that I honestly do know some of what you are feeling. If it would help to talk, please feel free to post to me. Sandy
