Nasal spray oxytocin can help with let down and meclopromide (Reglan, a medication used to treat ulcers and GI problems) may increase production. Milk thistle may help as well -- there are "lactation" teas available in health food stores.
She really wants to be able to breastfeed her daughter
>because of the health and bonding benefits, and because formula is She is to be commended for wanting to brestfeed -- it is wonderful for both her and the baby. In addition to extre fluids, EXTRA REST is important -- she needs help to take care of 2 kids and the house, etc. Also, pumping may help stimulate her milk supply -- she should use a good electric pump (hospital grade, either a rental or something like Medela's Pump in Style or LActina) I hope she is able to increase her supply enough to breastfeed exclusively -- if not, whatever she can do is great and she should not feel guilty just because she has to supplement.
