Beta BlockerFrom: steph (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 10 Feb 2000 20:15:24 -0600 (CST)
I believe that I am about 3 weeks pregnant and before my husband and I started trying my cardiologist told me I could go off my beta blocker (for tachycardia) b/c he had been decreasing my dosage and I had done very well, and try to get pregnant. He said tenormin (which is what I was on) was the best to take during preg. and would not hurt anything, my OB agreed that it would be fine-he advised to take if necessary, i.e. pulse above 100 for over an hour-I have done fine these 4 weeks and have only had a few episodes over 100-my pulse got up to around 120 for over an hour and I took 12 mg of tenormin to stop it and it worked-just wanting another opinion if these 3 doses of 12 mg in first 3 weeks will hurt anything and should I not take anymore( doses about 1 week apart)Is 120 bpm too high and dangerous, it does not have accompanying palpatations. THANKS JUST NEED SOME REASSURANCE SINCE I AM FINALLY PREGNANT!!
