STILL HAVE UTI!!From: steph (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 3 Feb 2000 23:46:24 -0600 (CST)
I wrote earlier about having taken Augmentin for a UTI and wondering if it would hurt to have gotten pregnant on the last two days of taking the med-you kindly responded back that the med was fine and wouldn't hurt anything. I went back to have another culture done even though symptoms gone and the Dr. said there was a decent concentration of Group B Strep and has put me on Amoxicillin 500 for 7 days-he of course knows that we are trying to conceive and that I could already be pregn., and says that Amoxicilin is very safe for preg. and that I should not worry-is this true?He also said that I could be a carrier for Group B Strep, and I know that antibiotics would have to be administered before delivery-is having this harmful for the baby before delivery?? Also, if the infection is cleared up, would that mean I am not a carrier or should I get a urine culture done often-how does one become a carrier, I have never had this before, and rarely even get a UTI-I could not pass the bacteria to my husband could I? My Dr. acted like this was no big deal and very routine w/10-15% of women-just wanted your opinion-SORRY SO LONG,BUT THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!!!! P>S> this is not the same bacteria my culture showed from the first infection-would stress cause you to get another one???
