Cat liter

I have read many times that if you are pregnant you should not change the cat liter. My question is - does this apply to any indoor animal ? We have a rabbit that is a house pet. We use cedar chips in his cage. What is the reason for staying away from the cat liter and can the rabbit cage be just as harmful ?

Thanks for your help.
