Re: Intrathecal MorphineFrom: Jody (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 29 Jan 2000 20:57:30 -0600 (CST)
I had an Intrathecal with my first labor and it worked really well. It was inserted into the spinal canal by my doctor and numbed me from the waist down. I could move my legs and walk, but I felt no pain (some pressure). The only thing to be careful of is that you've had morphine before with no adverse reaction. I reacted rather poorly to the morphine and spent my entire labor (and ensuing c-section) vomiting. Many people feel nauseated by narcotic pain killers, so keep that in mind.
