Kelly, I'm sorry for your loss. I also had a loss after which I passed or absorbed all the tissue. My doctor found this through ultrasound/sonogram, so I didn't have to go through the D&C. I'm sorry you had to go through that unnecessarily.

If there was never a heartbeat, you may have suffered a loss due to a "blighted ovum." This has something to due with the cell division not completing to 64 (or something like that). I think there is information on that in the archives of this forum or on other medical websites. My loss was due to a "blighted ovum," which my doctor said is random, but, interestingly, "ovum" means "egg," and I also have ovulation at abnormal times compared to other women. I've often wondered about the "immature egg" theory.

This may lead to more questions rather than helping you, but I wanted to let you know what I was thinking in case no one else responds. Thanks.
