diabetic considering 2nd pregnancyFrom: Marsha (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 14 Jan 2000 16:03:13 -0600 (CST)
Hi! I had my first child 4 months ago and had diet-controlled gestational diabetes. I found out 7 weeks postpartum that I now have type II diabetes (diet controlled and testing twice a day)although my test sugar level numbers were low enough that the diabetic clinic was surprised my doctor dx'ed me with it. We're are considering trying for a 2nd child starting in Sept/Oct. My diabetic clinic said I would be on insulin through the entire pregnancy. Is this a for sure thing? Also, if I do have to take insulin, is there a chance my body will become dependent on it and I would have to continue it after pregnancy? Marsha
