NEED HELP PLEASEFrom: Sue (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Sep 2003 23:11:13 -0500 (CDT)
I am a 34 year old woman who has had non-stop heavy bleeding and huge clotting for over a year and a half now. I know I need to see a professional right away, but I do not have insurance at this time and money is extremly short. If I am going to spend my last few dollars I need to see an expert on PCOS not just any doctor When I had insurance a year ago I had my local Orlando Florida doctors try and figure out what was wrong with me. None of them had any answers, results or treatments for my problem. I had to do my own research and found that I have EVERY classic sign of PCOS to the maxium extreme. Problem is the doctors here do not BELIEVE in PCOS. They say the research is unfounded and they don't really consider this to be an actual syndrom. So they try and treat me with tradtional treatments which do not work. One doctor actual said "Well the female menstrual process is a very mysterious thing, everyone is unique and some have more problems than others"...So I was sent on my way even though I asked him to test me for PCOS, he refused. I have gone to several doctors and they are all unfamiliar with PCOS and don't know how to stop the bleeding. In the past I have gone for years without bleeding or months of non-stop bleeding, I have had infertility problems, hair growth, have cyst on my ovaries, I am unable to loose weight around my abdomin area and gaining weight more each day (I eat VERY little, excerise with heavy weights and aggressive arobics 4 days a week for over an hour, walk every morning for over 1/2 hour and take very good care of my system) - One doctor flat out said "come on susan, you could loose weight if you tried - just stop eating ice cream and junk food and you'll be fine" I nearly died, I never eat junk food, I do not eat sugar or fatty process food and at that time had been a VEGAN of 8 years. I was crushed, dismissed and humiliated. I need the name of a professional doctor who has treated PCOS here in Central Florida. I am willing to travel to see a TRUE professional. Please help. I really feel I am headed for a dangerous outcome if I am not treated soon. My system is failing and showing signs. I have abdominal pain over my right overie, I bruse easy, and my nails are paper thin with ridges I also have been feeling chest pains. I am a sole provider and caretaker for two small children and can not afford to be ill. I am scared.
