One thing I have to say is that Chromium Picinolate has been removed off all the shelves here in Canada due to kidney and liver problems it has caused. POSSIBLE WITH THE OTHER FORMULATIONS, THEY STILL CARY IT IN USA, TRY INTERNET, LONGS DRUG STORE HAS A GENERIC I have read from many good sources that it is not reccomended for use.I am reluctant to use something that has had documented organ failure from it's use.I am one that is living with heart failure presently....directly related from the use of certain medications that were wrongly prescribed for me. I am very reluctant to use something till I have researched it,as well as discuss it first with my doctor who is very nutritionally conscious. He knows about most, but I still like to get others opinions.THIS PICINOLATE STUFF IS WORRYING ME BECAUSE I HAD TAKEN IT FOR A WHILE....I ALSO FELT WORSE ON IT...I ALSO FEEL BAD ON THE GTF ,SO HAVE DITCHED IT.I HAVE STARTED THE LIPOIC ACID AND WE WILL SEE...MY BLOOD SUGARS NEVER GO HIGH TO WARRANT IT ANYWAYS,..BUT I DO KNOW THAT I AM IN A PRE DIABETIC CONDITION THAT I WISH I COULD JUST TREAT WITH DIET AND EXERCISE AND A FEW SUPPLEMENTS ALONE.MET AND GLUCOPHAGE WERE NOT FOR ME.I WAS WASTING AWAY ON THEM.I LOST SO MUCH WEIGHT...I WAS TERRIBLY ILL.WILL NEVER TAKE THEM AGAIN Barb, I hear where you are comming from, I have Drug Hypersensitivity Syndrome from having had adverse drug reactions, I'm also a neuroscientist and consult with Docs re Rx issues and do reaearch....most kinds of chromium are bad including GTF, good research is being done at Harvard, NIH, Etc on Picolinate. I had muscle wasting, hair loss, Chromium Picolinate&B5 together reversed that,(I also take flax seed oil, D-alpha-V-E, cal/mag/zinc and snack on walnuts, got my cholosertol down after thyroid problems naturally w/o statins to which I am allergic, these also help remove toxins and improve liver function. I have the labs which show the muscle wasting B4 and no liver or kidney damage, and was done with the ok of my GI doc, I also have autonomic failure so I need strong muscles, I have COPD but have not been sick in 2years now and don't require inhalers.I don't have any diabetes related problems but have been eating a high protein low carb diet for some time, I also drink tea which is very healthy and NO SOY! I am 52 years old and 26weeks pregnant with my third child, I got pregnant the first cycle we tried.I have 2 sons 33&28 and 3 Gdaughters,6,3,&4months.My partner is a 55yrold physician(shrink, guess we're both crazy, but it's his first child.lol) Can u tell me about what u heard about the chromium GTF? GTF IS BAD AND NOT RECOMMENDED......in the links WHY IS IT BAD AND NOT RECOMMENDED?THERE MUST BE A REASON.I HAVE READ A BIT ABOUT IT,NOT TOO NEGATIVE,,BUT SO FAR IT SEEMED SAFE IF TAKEN AT A FAIRILY LOW DOSE IN MCG. I was taking a brand a few years ago with chromium+Vanadium which included..niacin and vitamin C.I think that was a good combo. At the time,it was chromium picinolate. I have to look up the other supplements u suggest.I am on soooooo many it isn't even funny. I am not diabetic(yet),not overweight and my cholesterol is NOW within normal range since taking some supplements(I believe). DOESN'T SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE PCOS, POSSIBLY SECONDARY ADRENAL INSUFFICIENCY, HAVE YOUR DHEA LEVELS CHECKED ALSO ADD B5, 25mg DHEA DAILY IF DEFICIENT I MOST DEFINITELY HAVE PCOS...I HAVE VERY HIGH LEVELS OF TESTOSTERONE,ANDROGENS AND ELEVATED DHEA'S....YES..I KNOW IT MAY NOT SEEM THAT WAY BUT ONLY 50% OF WOMEN WITH PCOS ARE OVERWEIGHT.AS FOR MY CHOLESTEROL..I WAS ALWAYS HYPERCHOLESTEROL TILL THE LAST THREE MONTHS;;;;I HAD POSTED ALL MY DHEA,ANDROGENS,TESTOSTERONE LEVELS A WHILE BACK.AT THE MOMENT I DO NOT HAVE THEM HANDY,BUT OH YES....I HAVE THE PEARLY STRING OF CYSTS ON OVARIES....I DO KNOW THAT IT IS STRANGE THAT I OVULATE MONTHLY..BUT I HAVE SUFFERED A TOTAL OF NINE MISCARRIAGES...NEVER CARRIED TO FULL TERM.PERIODS WERE MONTHLY,BUT IRREGULAR..THEY WOULD BE EVERY 21 DAYS...SOMETIMES EVERY 35 DAYS..,,AND THE MORE HEALTH PROBLEMS I GOT..THE MORE IRREGULAR THE PERIODS BECAME. Have you had an immune workup? Also mega doses of Vit "C" may lower DHEA and in turn testostrone and the B5 may help normalize the adrenals, but will have to suplement for what V C leaches out. I have normal periods and I do ovulate every month. The only problem is that the last while.the last year since I have been having problems with my heart..my periods were not regular.I would miss a month or two.First time in my life that happend, but I assumed from all the trauma I went through with tests on my heart and my heart not pumping efficiently. It was terrible. Trauma should have lowered DHEA not raise it, unless cortisol dyspunction, also try deep breathing exercises like pursed lip breathing, gets oxygen into the bottom of lungs, cuts off the stress hormones provokes healing hormones.... LOW PB OR SUPINE HYPOTENSION?(COMMON WITH SECONDARY ADRENAL INSUFFICIENCY, ALSO LOW BP AND SYNCOPE ASSOOCIATED WITH AUTONOMIC DYSFUNCTION GOTO:HTTP://WWW.NDRF.ORG\ yES THANKS...I DON'T HAVE LOW BP....I VARY CONSIDERABLY WITH MY BLOOD PRESSURES...I WAS TOLD THERE IS AN ORTHOSTATIC COMPOSITE TO MY CONDITION,RE TILT TABLE TESTING.THANKS THOUGH FOR THE THOUGHTS ON THIS.;) Didn't you just love the HUTT?????Dysautonomia comes in many varieties. I have had problems on and off with loss of head hair and body hair.I don't have alot of excess body hair..just a bit from umbilicus to pubic area...a couple thready hairs on my nipples and one or two on my neck that I had for years. SOUNDS LIKE SECONDARY AI NO....I WAS TOLD AND HAVE RESEARCHED THAT PCOS,AS ANY ILLNESS CAN WAX AND WANE...SINCE BEING HORMONAL..POSSIBLY,WHEN MY INSULIN LEVELS AND HORMONES WERE BALANCED,,THINGS BALANCED OUT FOR A WHILE...THE PHILOPOPHY BEHIND IT IS SOMEWHAT PERPLEXING TO ME..I DON'T HAVE AI FOR SURE NOT...MY ADRENALS KICK IN BECAUSE OF\EACTIVE HYPOGLECEMIC TIMES....LIKE WHEN I DON'T EAT.I HAVE BEEN TESTED FOR ADRENALINE INSUFFICIENCY...CORTISOL...ADISONS.....THE OTHER CUSHINGS ETC..NOPE.....HAD ALL THE TESTS DONE. If you are sensitive to the presuser hormone they give for the ACTH stimulation test you will get a false normal, there are two more sensitive tests that require testing over 24hrs or while having an episode. Things are not what they always seem. I HAD TAKEN DONG QUAI FOR YEARS ON AND OFF LONG BEFORE I KNEW I HAD PCOS..I TOOK IT BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO CONCEIVE AND IT DEFINITELY DID MAKE MY PERIODS REGULAR....ONLY THING...IT RAISES BLOOD PRESSURE AND IS NOT RECCOMMENDED FOR HYPOGLECEMIA....I BELIEVE THIS IS WHY I HAD ALWAYS HAD PERIODS AND OVULATED....IMY BODY WAS TRYING.....JUST WOULDN'T TURN ON THE RIGHT HORMONES..YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WITH SUPPLEMENTS,SO I FOUND OUT NOW...LOL YES!!!!!I KNOW!!!!! Any thoughts on what would help grow more hair?I had a great head of hair the last two years and had been also having problems on and off with this.I started losing in March and now the shedding has stopped but I want to regrow again.I know it can be done because I had very thin hair in my early twenties, which regrew into a beautiful lions mane. Now you can see some of my scalp in the front and it bothers me.It is not bad,but the way I like to give height to my hairstyle..you can sort of see through the top..that is where I lost the most. CHROMIMUM+B5 HELPS HAIR AND NAILS GROW, ALSO TAKE CAL/MAG/ZINC, HAVE THYROID+ANTIBODIES CHECKED HYPO CAN CAUSE HAIR LOSS YES, I KNOW ..THEY HAVE CHECKED MY THYROID MORE TIMES THAN THER ARE DAYS IN A YEAR...LOL! I was told that too, but they didn't check antibodies and they were off the chart, they will check TSH and maybe T4 and say everything is all right, or tell you your levels are normal when the are not, TSH .3-3.34 better if below2 for pregnancy. I DO TAKE CAL MAG ZINK-I TAKE A SUPPLEMENT RECOMMENDED BY MY DOCTOR CALLED CORAL CALCIUM WHICH HE HAS DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH ON.I WOULD NOT TAKE ANY OTHER TYPE.I MAKE CERTAIN NOW{BECAUSE IN THE PAST I HAD TAKE SUPPLEMENTS WITHOUT RESEARCHING THEM AND TAKING THE INTERNETS WORD..THERE IS TOO MUCH OUT THERE...YOU MUST GET INFO FROM RELIABLE SOURCES}I HAD TO LEARN THE HARD WAY.NOT ALL SUPPLEMENTS ARE RIGHT FOR U.I ALSO UNDERSTAND NOW THAT TAKING SOMETHING CHELATED IS THE WORST THING BECAUSE IF YOUR BODY DOES NOT NEED IT,IS STORES IT AND TOO MANY SUPPLEMENTS IS JUST AS BAD AS TOO LITTLE..I WOULD RATHER HAVE MY BODY DISPOSE OF WHAT IT DOES NOT NEED.I HAVE REGULAR MINERAL,VITAMIN ANALYSIS HERE DONE...I WORK WITH A VERY COMPETANT DOCTOR WHO DOES MUCH RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF NATURAL REMEDIES.CORAL CALCIUM CONTAINS 72 OTHER MINERALS..SO I HAVE AN ABUNDANCE IN MY BODY OF ALL.ABSORPTION OF THE CORAL CALCIUM IS THE BEST FROM RESEARCH.YOU HAVE TO GET THE OKINOWA TYPE......JAPANESE HAVE LOW RATES OF CANCER,HEART DISEASE ETC... Zinc is good for reproductive health and helps with the enzymac process so it binds to sulfur metabolites and helps clear them from body. I can see baby hairs growing, but am worried. Anyways..do you know if asthma is associated with PCOS.I was told it was associated with IR from my doctor.YOu had mentioned it in the last post. I am going to read the links you posted. IMMUNESYSTEM.....ALOT OF PEOPLE W/ASTHMA+ HAVE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM PROBLEMS(ANTIBODIES-IMMUNE) YEP....I WAS TOLD THAT TOO...JUST WANTED TO SEE IF SOMEONE ELSE WITH PCOS HAD ASTHMA..MY DOCTOR SAID IT IS A DIRECT RESULT OF MY BLOOD SUGAR ABNORMALITIES,BUT TO DATE ,I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY VALID PROOF.I DO BELIEVE AS U,THAT IT HAS ALOT TO DO WITH THE IMMUNE SYSTEM...BUT AGAIN..I WAS TOLD MY IMMUNE SYSTEM IS STRONG....WHO KNOWS..I THINK NOT!HOW ON EARTH CAN IT BE STRONG WHEN I HAVE SO MANY HEALTH PROBLEMS AT 42 YEARS OF AGE. It's out of balance, Alpha-1Antitrypsin is a pancriatic protease inhibitor, it affects many systems, including the immune system, if you have a defeciency, including recessive, you may be hypersensitive, AAT is an acute reactant, so it boosts levels including immune system in response to trauma, that's how one can have a deficiency and yet strong immune system, because it reacts, Vit E helps maintain this response, hypersensitivity also makes you respond and avoid irratiants rather than accumulate the silent but deadly killers.Marie THANKS SO MUCH MARIE....YOU ARE VERY HELPFUL! ;) Thanks so much Marie,
