According to my endo, periods can vary in amount and duration, especially when you are altering your hormonal makeup. Because you have only been on metformin for 5 months, you body still might be "finding" a balance. You may need to up your dosage, you may be just fine and things are getting fixed at their own speed. It can, but not always take 12 - 18 months of corrected insulin levels to have a "normal" cycle that results in ovulation. If you are concerned about this, talk to your endocrinologist. I doubt if she will do much more than a wait and see as long as you are having a period, but she should be made aware of it.
