Metformin and regular cycles???From: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 26 Sep 2003 05:58:05 -0500 (CDT)
It has been awhile since I have posted to this forum although I do read postings daily. The question I have is this. I have been on metformin 1500 mg for about 5 months. Before metformin (if I didn't take clomid) my periods were very light, usually brown in color and anywhere from 36 to 60 days, sometimes longer. When I took the clomid I would get a period every 29 to 32 days that was a good normal flowing period. Now that I have taken a break from clomid and am just taking the met I find that my periods are coming every 21 to 25 days and last about 7 days, although they are red to pink in color they are not heavy. Honestly, I could were one pad all day with the type of flow that it is, (obviously I don't do that)and a tampon would be out of the question. So here is my question, could I be ovulating with a period that is only 21 to 25 days? Does met make your periods lighter?? And with bleeding so light does that mean that my uterine lining is not thick enough to hold a pregnancy IF I am ovulating? Any responses welcome. Thanks again for all your support. You have all always answered my posts and I greatly appreciate it.
